Heroicomic
All the texts in the pictures are found in comic books. Hans Richter said "Words bear a burden of meaning designed for practical use and do not readily submit to a process of random arrangement." But I want to make the words and images submit to an arrangement that will ultimately produce what I call "elemental poems". The pictures exhibit a fundamental dilemma in attributes that we set for ourselves and others. The predicament has no solution.
While my work seems visually complex, the idea of the work is simple. It is about contradictions in our society. I use the comic book figures as symbols for the heroic, not because they always act as heroes but because we associate their fiction with a hero. I want to coax the viewer into thinking about heros.
