History Posturing and Molting

When we are born, we begin to die. On this journey, we loose things, like teeth, skin hair, bone mass etc. The Greek sculptors, created figures that they thought would remain the same forever. Photographers do the same. By combining ancient Greek sculptures with contemporary photographs of famous people, I imaged that I could bring two time periods together to discuss the desire for mortality. Some of the photographic sculptures are standing on faux marble with metal containers that hold teeth, hair, fingernails and eyeglasses.
